The Lazy Horse Cabin was a joy to call home for our family get away. The cabin was clean and offers privacy unlike most of the other cabins in the area. We enjoyed not worrying about cars driving by us constantly and getting dust all over our stuff. The host Jim was in touch often and responded quickly to our questions. Over all the cabin was perfect if you want somewhere with privacy, that’s clean, and can have a worry free stay.

Although first glance looks like a tiny little bungalow, inside it is gloriously huge, roomy, spacious, set up just right A beautiful place to vacation in the Black Hills!

We had a wonderful stay and would absolutely recommend this cabin! It was the perfect space for our large group, with plenty of room for both the kids and adults to spread out and enjoy themselves. The many amenities made our stay even better, and we made so many great memories here. Our only suggestion would be adding shades to the upper windows in the living and dining room. They let in quite a bit of heat during the day, and in the evening the sun was directly in our eyes, making it difficult to sit comfortably in those areas. Overall, it was an excellent stay, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a spacious, well-equipped place to stay!

We had a wonderful stay at this cabin! We were in town for the Mt. Rushmore fireworks celebration, and the location was perfect. It was easy to find, very comfortable, and just a short drive to both Lead and Deadwood. The cabin had everything we needed for a relaxing stay, and we would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the Black Hills. We'd happily stay here again! Thanks again!

We loved the cabin. It was a perfect size for our extended family vacation. It handled our family with three couples and three teenagers very nicely. It was an easy drive to the main drag in Hochatown to all the places. The cabin was private and felt very secluded. Even though it was near other cabins, there was enough woods in between so you couldn't even see them. We loved drinking our morning coffee on the porch and watching the deer. It came well stocked and the beds were very comfortable. The living space, loft, bedrooms, kitchen, and porches left enough room for everyone to spread out. We used the hot tub and gas grill with ease. Jim was a very responsive and down to earth host. He was a quick text away for anything we needed or had a question about. I appreciated that I was working directly with the owner and not a property management company. We will definitely consider this cabin again for our annual trip to BB! It was just perfect.

A Bit About Me

Your Host

I grew up in the ranching world and spent years running a ranch, where taking care of land, animals, and people was part of everyday life. That background shaped how I approach hospitality today. From running a brewery to hosting Airbnb stays, I’m hands-on, detail-focused, and take pride in doing things the right way. I believe clear communication and personal attention make all the difference, and I treat every property like it’s my own so guests feel comfortable, welcome, and well cared for. ~Jim
